5 Easy Strains for Beginner Growers
Nothing is more satisfying than growing your own weed. You save money for one. You always have weed on hand to smoke and share with friends. And best of all you can control the quality and quantity of your stash. There’s nothing better than that for those of us that take our cannabis use seriously. But growing for a novice can be a bit daunting. So, we want to show you 5 easy strains for beginner growers.
Of course, the strains you will want to grow will need to meet your requirements. You may need cannabis for medical reasons. Perhaps you want to make edibles or oils. Or maybe you just want powerful recreational strains. Either way, you want to grow successfully. There are some strains that are easier to grow than others. So let’s start there. Some strains are more resistant to negatives than others, for example, nutrients, pests, disease, mould and more. Then, of course, there’s the biggest enemy, you. Some strains may thrive despite your lack of proper care.
Cinex
Cinex is a great Sativa that you can grow relatively easily in your home. The THC levels top 22%. This strain is 60% Sativa and known for very powerful euphoric results. Cinex is a hybrid of Cinderella 99 and Vortex. Cinderella plants grow tall and leafy and have great harvests. The suggested method here again is SCROG. We suggest you do some research before you get your seeds. This will ensure a successful crop. The nice thing here for beginners is that this strain is very resistant to mould, mildew and sickness. Almost anyone can successfully grow Cinex.

Blue Dream
This is one of the most popular strains in the history of marijuana. You have undoubtedly smoked it and probably didn’t even realize it. Blue Dream is one of the biggest selling, if not the biggest selling, Sativas of all time. It is full of energy-boosting trichomes. So, it makes a great strain for the everyday user. This hybrid is the result of crossbreeding a Blueberry indica with the Sativa heavy Super Silver Haze. The Sativa is between 60-65% dominant. The THC is a whopping 25% and has about 2% CBD, making it a good medical strain.
This is great for the novice because it is also a very resilient strain. It is highly resistant to root rot and mildew. That means it will thrive indoors. Beginners tend not to take the time and care that plants require. Blue Dream will fare well with or without your love. So, it’s ideal for the novice. Like Gorilla Glue you can expect a yield of around 20 ounces in about 9 weeks.
Dutch Treat
This strain is as old school as it gets. It is a famous strain from Amsterdam and one of the most popular indica strains in the world. It is 80% indica and for that reason hugely popular in medical circles. The THC has tested anywhere from 18-25%. So, depending on how to green your thumb is you may end up with one very powerful couch locking indica buds here.
This is a great strain for beginner growers as it responds fantastically to hydroponic conditions. Set up a water system and watch this bad boy thrive. Dutch Treat has huge yields too which is great for the beginner because if you get a good crop it will last you until your next harvest. You can expect about 12 ounces 9 every nine weeks.

Green Crack
This is a great recreational strain that is easy to grow. It is sometimes called Green Kush and it is a 75% Sativa dominant strain. It got the Green Crack name from Snoop Dogg and became wildly popular as a result. Sativa strains are usually more difficult to cultivate than indica strains. But this strain is tough and will grow if taken care of properly.
It doesn’t require an enormous amount of care but you will need to tend to it regularly. If you do you can expect to harvest over 18 ounces in only 7 weeks. This is a great strain for beginner growers that smoke daily. The THC levels can exceed 20%. So, you can keep yourself very high between harvests.
Gorilla Glue
This is my favourite. It is super high in THC at around 25%. And it is one of the easiest strains to grow yourself as it needs very little room and attention. It will thrive with very little nutrients and light. It was actually bred to be an indoor strain. So, you won’t have to worry about pests and the natural elements. This hybrid is a perfect 50/50 Sativa and indica split. GG makes for a great medical and recreational strain as the indica is great for the body and the Sativa is great for the mind.
Gorilla Glue’s a result of crossbreeding Sour Dubb, Chocolate Diesel and Chem’s sister. These are three very potent strains. So, you’re sure to yield a strong crop. Gorilla Glue is a multi-award winning strain including a Cannabis Cup winner. My suggestion is that you use the SCROG growing technique. You can Google that. It’s also called the Screen of Green Method. You can expect to yield about 20 ounces in about 8 weeks.
